Funded by Women And Gender Equality (WAGE) Canada, the SAWEERA project focused on developing and implementing culturally sensitive prevention-focused initiatives to combat gender-based violence and discrimination (GBVD); engaged men and boys as allies to combat harmful gender norms and attitudes; and engaged women with lived experience to influence pandemic recovery responses. This was achieved through focused group discussions, educational videos, skills-building workshops on relevant topics, and working with 58 partners and networks to break the silos and leverage shared efforts to address the GBVD issues. Trained survivors of gender-based violence supported, educated, and empowered South Asian women at risk of or experiencing GBV.
